Spark Community is pleased to announce Michelle Edwards as its new Executive Director, marking an exciting new chapter of leadership, growth, and continued commitment to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
A California native, Michelle moved to Arkansas more than 20 years ago and has been an integral part of Spark Community ever since. During her more than two decades with the organization, she has developed a deep understanding of the individuals and families Spark serves, its programs, its staff, and the communities that support its mission.
Michelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University. Her education, combined with more than 20 years of hands-on experience at Spark Community, has prepared her to lead the organization as it continues to strengthen and expand its services.
“I am excited about the growth and progress taking place at Spark Community and honored to serve as Executive Director,” said Edwards. “I am passionate about continuing to improve the services we provide to individuals with developmental disabilities and finding new opportunities to help the people and families we serve reach their fullest potential.”
For over 40 years Spark Community has provided a wide range of services for infants, children, and adults with developmental disabilities, including Early Intervention Day Treatment, Adult Day Treatment, CES Waiver and Supportive Living services, transportation, nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapy. Currently adding new services such as ABA Autism Therapy, and Hippotherapy. Spark Community also operates childcare and preschool services for typically developing children.
Outside of her professional work, Michelle is a proud mother of two.
