Our Commitment

For more than 40 years, Spark Community has given hope to families across north central Arkansas. Our team continues to work to create a brighter future for children and adults with developmental and intellectual delays.

We are more than a service provider: We are a community. Together, we empower individuals to reach their full potential, celebrate every milestone, and foster a culture of inclusion and possibility.

Spark Community is a private nonprofit organization licensed by the Department of Human Services Division of Developmental Disabilities Services. We are also proud to be certified by Arkansas DHS/Division of Child Care as a Better Beginnings 2 Star Center Provider.

Our Journey

Spark Community began with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide compassionate, individualized care for those with developmental delays.

We were founded in 1983 as the Community School of Cleburne County by the passionate and dedicated Teri Renner. We’ve grown from just six adults and four children into supporting more than 100 infants and children and 30 adults. Our comprehensive programs continue to evolve to meet the increasing needs of the community we serve.

Throughout our history, we’ve faced challenges with resilience and determination. In 2005, a devastating fire destroyed our preschool building. But we refused to let this setback disrupt our mission. We resumed services in just two days thanks to the generosity of the United Methodist Church and our dedicated team.

By 2007, with the support of our community and the leadership of Executive Director Teri Renner, we opened a new facility. That same location continues to house both our adult and preschool programs.

Today, we proudly serve families across five counties in north central Arkansas: Cleburne, White, Stone, Independence, and Faulkner.

Specialist Staff

Our specialist staff are focused on enriching the lives of infants, children and adults with developmental and intellectual delays.

Staff Nurses

Our licensed practical nurses and registered nurses ensure that every child receives the medical care they need. Our nurses work closely with health care providers to ensure our clients’ health and safety. We are committed to providing the best possible care for all individuals.

Paraprofessionals and Registered Behavioral Technicians

Our paraprofessionals are trained through the UAMS REACH program. We also employ registered behavioral technicians to provide specialized behavioral support. These specialists teach cognitive, motor, self-help, communication, and social-emotional development skills.

Behavior Specialists

Behavior specialists play an essential role in our programs. These professionals are experts in applied behavior analysis. Spark Community has two behavior specialists on staff to provide individualized support and ensure the highest level of care for our clients.
